Another black and white that I believe works well. After all, the subject is a medieval Castle, right? “Midhope Castle”, but more importantly to some, “Lollybroch” to the Outlander people out there. I’m actually glad we got that gorgeous cloudy sky as well, it adds to the mood. I can’t explain how much I dislike plain blue skies.
The ART of Black and White Images
I have recently been obsessed with black and white imagery. This isn’t as simple as just pressing a button and changing the image. It involves a process that allows for much artistic license, it is often referred to as fine art.
New Tools
One of the things I like about photography and post processing is that sometimes you learn a new trick or tool and it opens new doors for your creativity. I discovered Gradient Maps in photoshop and have found a couple of interesting places to use it. This is using an orange gradient map and I like it. I’m not great with colours but under the correct circumstances I will try out some things.
As always, comments always welcome.
Confederation Bridge in Black and White
I like a good black and white image. The trouble is that not all images work as well as others but I feel that this one works quite well. The use of black and white helps us to look at more, we see the forms, shapes and lines much easier for one thing.
Photo of the Week #229
Sometimes we all go through periods where for one reason or another we don’t get out shooting much, if at all. I seem to suffer from that quite a bit but luckily there are things you can partake in even without leaving your house. This is one of those things. I took a sunflower and tried to add a blurred affect that never worked out but this later affect looks great to me. Don’t be afraid to fail, sometimes it leads you to a completely different place but not necessarily a bad one.
