Maritime RainstormI watched this storm brewing for a bit. When it began to move up the coast I decided to head to the lighthouse area to use it in the composition. I think it worked well. To me, the subject in this frame is the clouds.
Cliffs of BraewickI can across this scene just behind a cafe while on the road from another location. I love the appearance of it and thought it begged for black and white.
Confederation BridgeI took this photo several years ago but it never really worked for me. That is until I began to see it differently. It’s funny how sometimes you look at a photo years later and it all of a sudden looks differently to you. The contrasty black and white suits it perfectly in my opinion.
Victoria GlacierUnfortunately, because of climate change, the actual glacier is getting smaller and smaller, as most are. Lake Louise is one of Canada’s most iconic places but time is taking a toll.
NiagaraNiagara Falls has become one of the best known places in Canada. The honeymoon capital of the world they call it. Not sure if this is true but it is something to behold, but not so much in the summer when there are thousands of people swarming it almost 24 hours a day.
A Different TimeI know Eileen Donan Castle is one of those iconic places that literally tens of thousands of photographers have already shot it from every possible angle and condition. I still like to shoot these things no matter what? It’s a beautiful old looking castle but was actually restored in the early 1900s after being derelict for some time. It was destroyed during the Jacobite uprising.
Maisy AnneWe came across this beautiful scene and being a dog owner, it made me feel good. This man told us he takes his dog Maisy Anne for a boat ride on this picturesque little river every day. The dog has become accustomed to it and asks to go, What a wonderful story in this images.
Old Fish ShackThis shack was a reminder of the rich history in the maritimes. At one time many fishermen had shacks similar to this one near the water to help them house their gear or prepare fish to go to market. This shack no longer exists but the photo is a reminder of a disappearing culture.
A Plot of LandWhile out and about, I found this in a farmer’s field. Another photo that immediately spoke to me. I’m not sure what it is but to me it looks like a small grave site.
Big ButtesMonument Valley, another iconic location. Millions of photos were taken here, but never mine till this. What a surreal place for me! As A kid growing up, I saw this place so many times in western movies.
Tracy ArmComing out of Tracy Arm, Alaska
Standing StonesCallanish Standing Stones are said to be from 500 BC! Hard to imagin something that old, what an interesting place.
West BurraThis place was a short walk through the sheep pastures behind the house we stayed at in Shetland the last time we were there. We thought it was a privelege to have such a beautiful location all to ourselves. We even witnessed a pod of Orcas go past here one day!
MysterySometimes you come across places that never caught your eye before, but add a bit of fog and they come alive.
The SplashI was in Nova Scotia one year in October and the seas were beginning to grow. I came to this place one evening just before sundown, looking for something. I saw the waves and rushed to get my camera and tripod out. I was rushing and just wanted to get something, I figured I could perfect my composition after that. I was wrong as seconds after this, the sun faded all of a sudden and my hoped for more chances with it.
